The story of the container and the issues related to transports
Did you know that Malcolm Mc Lean was the founder of the container ship?
Malcolm was an American manager in the transports field, who in 1937 had an intuition that “opened the door” to the development of the container. He realized that loading the whole body truck on the ship would have been easier than stowing the cargo. In the past, loading operations were very slow and challenging: each truck had to be unloaded and the goods were stowed one by one on board. That was the idea that carried to the development of the first container in the year 1956.
Stowing the goods has had a great impact in the sea transport since the sixties . The container ship offered different advantages: less damaged or ruined load and better speed of embarking and disembarking.
Nowadays container ships are facing important difficulties.
One of them is the necessary crossing of the critical geopolitical areas for wars and political and social tensions as for examples the Red Sea crisis. These topics that are linked to the international trade have generated a debate during the reunion of the #G7 trade ministers countries placed in Reggio Calabria last 16-17 of July.
The strength of the supply chain is a fundamental issue that in every possible way should be preserved and guaranteed.
